Back into study mode with Learn Local, but need some tips on how to learn faster and smarter
Here are some ways to help your brain retain information:
- Hand write the main points

Skip the laptop and handwrite your notes. This helps you to process the information, and really think about it.
- Get good sleep
Make sure you’re getting enough sleep at night. A tired brain will struggle to process and retain information.
- Exercise
Exercise improves blood flow and memory; it stimulates chemical changes in the brain that enhance learning, mood and thinking.
- Say it out loud
When studying, read your notes out loud. Hearing the words back will help you remember the information, as you are processing it both visually and verbally.
- Stay hydrated
Drink plenty of water. Water is essential for optimal brain health and function as dehydration can lead to fatigue, dizziness, poor concentration and reduced cognitive abilities.
- Don’t over-study – reward yourself
Break up your study patterns, so you’re not overloading yourself with too much information that can’t all be retained. Take regular breaks doing the things you enjoy. By breaking up study, it won’t feel so onerous.
