Planning an event

“I wanted new skills and more job opportunities.”

Penny is 26 years old but it was actually her mother who first introduced her to Reservoir Neighbourhood House.

“And WOW, there’s just so many things to do here.”

Reservoir Neighbourhood House offers a wide range of learning programs and support services.

“I’ve been coming here since I finished school because I wanted to learn new skills and expand my job opportunities.”

Currently, Penny is learning how to plan, prepare and coordinate an event. The course includes hands-on experience in running an event, which is invaluable.

“We run events and look at what works and what doesn’t work. We look at different event strategies. It’s never the same.”

Penny now enlists others into learning programs at Reservoir Neighbourhood House and has some tips for newcomers.

“You need to have an open mind and a goal or two in mind.”
