A brighter future

Kitti moved from Thailand to Australia in 2016. She had been a teacher for 13 years in Thailand but her qualifications were not recognised here.
Kitti found out about Ballarat Neighbourhood Centre’s Enterprising Communities program, which includes hospitality courses that have a strong work focus.
The Enterprising Communities program allowed Kitti to learn new skills, build networks, and improve her English. She went on to complete a Working in Cleaning course, and got a job at a local resort as a room attendant.
“I loved learning at BNC. I could practice my language. I got more skills for work and for myself.”
Unfortunately Kitti lost her job at the resort due to the impact of COVID19. So when she saw a job as a Cleaning and Safety Officer at Ballarat Neighbourhood Centre, she applied – armed with glowing recommendations from her previous employer.
Kitti is now a valued member of staff and always keen to take on the new challenges.
“I want to learn everything if I can. This means everything to me.”
