An opportunity for a new career

“I wanted to know more.”
Isam was interested in aged care but he wanted to know more because there are many different job roles within the sector, including front-line support and administrative roles.
Isam attended a six week mentoring program for people interested in working in aged care or disability support at the Australian Multicultural Community Services (AMCS). AMCS offer accredited and pre-accredited programs in home and disability support sectors.
“During the six weeks I learnt a lot about aged care.”
The mentoring program included information sessions on job opportunities, assessments, aged care services, home support programs and the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
“I learnt how to link clients in with services and about home care packages … It was really great.”
The program also developed his skills in writing resumes and cover letters.
“It was a good experience. And in the future I am really considering working in this field.”
