Working with children

Rehka
‘I had never learnt English before and I found it very hard to understand and communicate.’
Last year when Rehka came to Australia from India with her husband and two children she couldn’t speak any English at all.
‘My English was at zero level.’
Rehka used the Internet to find some help, and came across the Glen Eira Adult Learning Centre (GEALC).
‘I’ve learnt lots of things here. When I first came here I could not understand one sentence in English.’
Slowly Rehka built up her English language skills. Now she continues to learn English at GEALC while studying early childhood. She is keen to get a job in a childcare service.
‘It’s very simple I am the mother of two kids and I love children. GEALC teachers are very warm, friendly and professional. It’s a very supportive environment.’
