Many Learn Local providers offer courses on digital technology, such as how to use smart phones, streaming platforms and social media, so today we’re going to talk about podcasts.

A podcast is an audio episode, usually streamed, where people discuss different topics on absolutely anything and everything – depending on your interests.

Podcasts can be accessed very easily through your smart phone, but what exactly are they?

Whether it’s music, literature, film, science, sport, environment, history, politics, there’s bound to be a podcast for you.

People often create them about things they are passionate about, as a hobby, so you’ll find they often go in-depth and analytical about the subject matter.

The great thing about podcasts:

  • They’re mostly free
  • They’re easy to find (simply access the Podcast app on your smart phone)
  • You can listen to them anywhere, anytime, whether it be on the bus on the way to work, while going on a walk or cleaning the house
  • There’s bound to be a podcast on a topic that intrigues you, created by people who share the same interests as you

To discover the world of podcasts, visit the Podcast app on your smart phone and search away.
